Hannaford Supermarket

Sparhawk Group commissioned the country’s first LEED rated supermarket, (Hannaford in Augusta, ME.) The project served as a test for the Hannaford supermarkets to evaluate green technologies and discover how they can be implemented into their standard supermarket construction. Sparhawk Group’s role included commissioning the ground source heat pumps system, photovoltaic electricity generation system, ground source heat pump and solar thermal domestic hot water production. Once the project was completed, it was awarded LEED Platinum, the highest level of certification available. We worked closely with the design team throughout construction to maximize operating efficiency and to assure the proper implementation and execution of integrated systems.
